2.56 Tbit/s Asia-Pacific Cable Network2, linking eight Asian countries, begins operations

The APCN2 (Asia-Pacific Cable Network2) undersea optical cable network, linking eight Asian countries, has fully opened for operations. Each pair of optical fibres in the DWDM network has a maximum capacity of 640 Gbit/s and the network can transmit data at a speed of 2.56 Tbit/s.

Carriers investing in the project, which cost $10.6 billion, are Korea Telecom, Japan's NTT and KDDI, China Telecom, Hong Kong's Reach, Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom, Philippines' PLDT, Singapore's Singtel and Telekom Malaysia.
