Engana of Australian Technology Park, Eveleigh, New South Wales, Formed in September 2001 by Dr. Simon Poole and Dr. Steve Frisken to supply module and subsystem solutions for next generation optical networks. In February 2003 having received venture capital funding from DB Capital Partners (via its Ericsson-Deutsche Technology fund), Technology Venture Partners, Intel Capital and Rikei Corporation. Currently supplying wavelength selective switch modules for use in ROADM applications, which specifically have the ability to offer an arbitrary, remotely reconfigurable channel plan compatible with 40 Gbit/s systems, and include integrated dynamic channel equalisation.
Announced the closing of a $6.06 million (A$8 million) Series B financing round led by new investor Starfish Ventures, together with previous investors Technology Venture Partners, DBCapital Partners, Intel Capital and private investors.
Engana said the new funding would enable continued development of WSS and other key network submodules, and help grow manufacturing and global marketing capabilities.
